Founded in 1986 in Orange County, California, Mossimo was an instant hit and an iconic player in the Cali fashion scene of the late 80s.

Inexorably tied to the emerging activewear and beachwear trends of its time, along with close rival Stussy, it rapidly became synonymous with street credibility. The hand-drawn logo came to embody counterculture, thriving off cult appeal. Making an extraordinary $1 million in profit in its first year of operation out of a Balboa Island garage, the brand had one of the most meteoric rises of a new label seen during that era, if not since. The brand continued to forge into new larger distribution, eventually trading its stocks on the New York Stock Exchange, and operating stand-alone stores in the early 90s including a Costa Mesa location which alone attracted some 18 million visitors a year.

Today, Mossimo's California lifestyle aesthetic and nostalgia vintage graphic style draws a new generation of surf, skate and streetwear consumers and operates on a global scale.
